IIM Raipur conducts 5-day Residentials Programme for MP School Principals

IIM Raipur's 5-day residential program aims to help school principals and headmasters gain a deeper understanding of their responsibilities and improve their academic and administrative capabilities. 

The Indian Institute of Management Raipur conducted a 5-day residential program on “Management & Leadership” designed for the Higher Secondary School Principals and Headmasters of the Madhya Pradesh Education Department. The program, held under the guidance of Professor Mrunal P Chavda (Humanities & Liberal Arts), Professor Ram Kumar Kakani (Director), and Prof. Suneetha Saggurti (HRM & Organizational Behaviour), aimed to enhance the leadership and management skills of the participants.

Key Objectives

The program's primary objective was to help school principals and headmasters gain a deeper understanding of their responsibilities and improve their academic and administrative capabilities. It also aimed to equip them with the skills needed for decision-making under uncertain scenarios, innovative thinking, and effective management, thereby enhancing their overall leadership and management skills.

About IIM Raipur 5-day residential program

Throughout the five days, the participants engaged in a series of comprehensive sessions and activities. During the 5-day residential program, Headmasters and Principals of the Madhya Pradesh Education Department developed a deeper understanding of individual and group dynamics through sociometry and expectation setting. They engaged in self-awareness and personal growth during reflective sessions.

They explored effective educational leadership qualities and practices, enhanced their communication skills, and built stronger relationships through improved interpersonal communication techniques. Participants learned strategies for fostering collaboration and team building, navigating conflicts, and establishing trust within educational environments. They gained sensitivity to stakeholder perspectives and visited Rajkumar College to understand its legacies and challenges. The program also covered skills in feedback and counselling, organisational communication, self-care, planning and time management, personal vision setting, and public speaking.

Action plan for future implementation

The program concluded with the creation of a comprehensive action plan for future implementation. The program successfully provided the participants with a robust framework and practical skills to enhance their leadership and management effectiveness. The participants expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to learn from esteemed faculty members and appreciated the blend of theoretical knowledge and practical insights delivered in Hindi.
