The 11th edition of the International Sustainability Conference (SUSCON-XI), organized by IIM Shillong, concluded successfully with its theme, 'Climate Positive World', marking a significant milestone in the Institute's flagship annual event. A Global Platform for Sustainability Dialogue
The conference began with an opening address by Professor Basav Roychoudhury, Dean of Research at IIM Shillong, who welcomed the participants and dignitaries. He emphasized the importance of sustainability as an evolving global challenge and the role of research in driving impactful solutions. Over the course of the event, participants from across the world, including countries like India, Hungary, USA, and Finland, presented their research papers and prototypes. The conference received an overwhelming 301 submissions, from which 118 papers were selected after a thorough review process.
The high-quality research shared at the conference underscores the growing global recognition of sustainability and its integration into academia, industry, and civil society. Paliwal shared his remarkable story of environmental activism in Piplantri, a village in Rajasthan, where 111 trees are planted for every girl born as part of a unique initiative aimed at promoting gender equality, empowerment, and environmental conservation.
