113 New UG Medical Colleges Receives NMC Approval; 22 in UP, 14 in Maharashtra
The list of 113 new medical colleges for the academic session 2024-25 includes a total of 22 new medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh followed by 14 new medical colleges in Maharashtra.
The Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has released the list of 113 new medical colleges to commence the MBBS programme for the academic year 2024-25. The commission has shared the decision with these medical colleges via email. However, the list of new medical colleges 2024 has also been released on the NMC official website nmc.org.in.
"In continuation of MARB’s Public Notice dated the 3rd April 2024, with reference to the applications received for Establishment of New UG Medical Colleges for Academic Year: 2024-25, it is informed that final decisions of MARB in respect of 113 applications have been communicated through e-mail IDs (as mentioned in online applications) to the Medical Institutions/Colleges concerned for information and necessary action by them within the stipulated timeline," Reads the NMC official notification dated July 6, 2024.
Uttar Pradesh To Have Maximum New Medical Colleges
As per the list of new medical colleges in 2024, Uttar Pradesh has got approval for establishing 22 new medical colleges followed by Maharashtra with 14 new colleges. Rajasthan state will have 12 new medical colleges while Telangana will have 11 new colleges.

NMC Guidelines for New Medical College
As the latest turn of events, NMC has granted medical colleges, to begin with as less as 50 seats if they have a functional hospital and faculties in all the clinical departments. The hospitals are required to have atleast 200 bed capacity and 20 ICU beds. It must be noted that no new medical college or institution can be established, or any course can begin unless approval from MARB is received.
