Telangana government to reallocate 150 medical students of TRR Institute of Medical Sciences to other government and private medical colleges.
The National Medical Commission (NMC) cancelled the admissions in three private medical colleges in Telangana after the Commission's team conducted a surprise inspection of these colleges. The colleges whose admissions were cancelled include MNR Medical College and Hospital, Sangareddy, Mahavir Institute of Medical Sciences, Vikarabad, and TRR Institute of Medical Sciences, Patancheru.
Now, the Centre has sent an order to the Telangana government based on which the state government will reallocate as many as 150 medical students of TRR Institute of Medical Sciences to other private and government medical colleges.
Health Minister T Harish Rao said, "The new seats would be allocated on the basis of merit. Instructions have been given to Vice Chancellor and Director of Medical Education in this regard. Counselling for the students of other two colleges will be done as and when the State receives orders,” as reported by Indian Express.
The Background
Ever since the NMC had cancelled the admissions in these medical colleges, the students and parents were worried as there was no response from the government even after three weeks. The students even protested, nearly 50 PG students whose admissions were cancelled tried to meet the Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) Vice-Chancellor Dr B Karunakar Reddy to get assurance about their future but could not meet the VC.
In MNR Medical College and Hospital, undergraduate and postgraduate courses were cancelled, in TRR Institute of Medical Sciences, NMC had withdrawn the letter of permission for first renewal and second batch admission and in Mahavir Institute of Medical Sciences, PG seats were cancelled.
