2,000 more MBBS, BDS students to be recruited in new medical colleges, hospitals: Odisha Chief Minister

The Chief Minister said that new recruitments is being announced keeping in mind that the nine new medical colleges do not face a shortage of doctors and medical infrastructure.
With an aim to strengthen the healthcare services in Odisha, the state government has announced that it will be recruiting 2,000 more MBBS and BDS students in the upcoming medical colleges and peripheral hospitals. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, while announcing this here through video conferencing, said that nine new medical colleges should not face a shortage of doctors and medical infrastructure.
The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has been asked to notify the appointment of doctors at the earliest, an official release said, adding, Patnaik has also directed officials to complete projects in the health sector in coordination with different departments. The release added that the state has already launched a mega drive to develop SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack into a "world-class health care centre".
Meanwhile, the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) cell began the spot counselling of Odisha NEET 2020 Counselling which will conclude today; i.e. January 20, 2021. It must be noted that the counselling round is being held for admission into the vacancy seats of MBBS/BDS courses.
As per the official notification released for conducting Odisha NEET 2020 counselling, “the vacant seats available in different colleges will be announced on the official website at www.ojee.nic.in in due time along with time schedule for reporting of candidates.”
To participate in spot counselling, candidates must be listed in the state merit list of MBBS/BDS courses. To take part in the Odisha NEET 2020 Spot Counselling, interested candidates must report at the counselling centre according to the date and time mentioned against their rank/merit. Seat allotment is done on the basis of the NEET-UG score.
