Yet another petition in the Supreme Court of India, seeking postponement of an entrance test. This time doctors file a plea seeking postponement of AIAPGET 2020.

AIAPGET 2020 Updates

Several doctors have filed a plea in the Supreme Court of India, seeking postponement of the AIAPGET 2020 examination. The examination which is scheduled for August 29 is the largest entrance test for admission to postgraduate AYUSH courses in India.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) had announced the exam dates for AYUSH PG 2020 entrance examinations on August 11. Post which seventeen doctors approached Advocate Alakh Alok Srivastava to file the petition in the apex court of the country.

The petitioners plead that β€œDue to the fact of already being infected by COVID-19 or due to being in quarantine presently, many Doctors (including many Petitioners herein) will be deprived of appearing in the aforesaid AIAPGET- 2020 on 29.08.2020, which will be in flagrant violation of their fundamental right to equality, as enshrined within Article 14 of Constitution of India.”

The petitioners have argued that conducted AIAPGET 2020 on August 29 would deprive many from appearing for the examination. The doctors who have been involved in providing medical aid during this pandemic have had no time to prepare for the entrance test.

The petition also cites that the exam notification was released only weeks before the AIAPGET exam date, not giving enough time to the candidates to prepare for it. The petitioners point out that the authorities have not taken into consideration the plight of those residing in areas affected by recent floods. Also, the lockdown has been extended in parts of the country, which would make travelling to the exam centres difficult for the AIAPGET 2020 aspirants. They, therefore, seek the intervention of the court in this matter and postpone the dates for AIAPGET 2020.
