AIIMS Bathinda first-year student alleges ragging by seniors
A first-year student of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bathinda has accused his seniors of ragging and harassment for allegedly wearing a cap instead of a turban.
Amid the strict National Medical Council's (NMC) guidelines against the ragging incidents inside the medical colleges' campus, a fresher in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bathinda has alleged that his seniors have ragged and harassed him for allegedly wearing a cap instead of a turban.
Reportedly, after the incident, the student went missing from the AIIMS Bathinda campus and the college had to file a police complaint to trace his whereabouts.
“In the morning, I don’t have time to wear a turban. They have a problem with me wearing a cap whereas no teacher had any such problem on the issue,” the student said in a letter, as reported by Hindustan Times.
Victim has not registered any complain
He has not mentioned the names of seniors involved in this act. Also, the student and his parents have not filed any complaint with the district police or the college management about the harassment.
“He handed over the letter to his roommate that was delivered to the hostel superintendent. After his mobile phone was switched off, a police complaint was lodged immediately. He was found in good health in Chandigarh,” said dean Prof Satish Gupta.
DK Singh, Director, AIIMS (Bathinda), said, “There is no such issue. We have called the parents of the student and warden. Senior students have talked to each other on this and no such thing was found. We have a special committee on ragging, which is investigating the matter,” as reported by Tribune India.
