AIIMS Bibinagar celebrates International Year of Millets 2023
Accepting the Indian suggestion, the United Nations has declared the year 2023 as the International Year of Millets. AIIMS Bibinagar doctors, nurses and students participated in a 3 km walkathon up to Bibinagar lake and created awareness of millets and their benefits.
AIIMS Bibinagar Hyderabad has started celebrating the International Year of Millets 2023. The doctors, nurses and students of AIIMS participated in a 3 km walkathon up to Bibinagar lake and created awareness of millets and their benefits under the guidance of Prof. (Dr) Vikas Bhatia, Executive Director.
The Walkathon was led by Prof. (Dr.) Vikas Bhatia and was graced by Dr Rahul Narang Dean (Acad), Dr Neeraj Agarwal Medical Superintendent, Dr Sangeeta Sampath Dean ( Research), Dr Vishakha Jain Nodal Officer IYOM, faculty, Nursing Officers and students.
The walkathon was flagged by Dr Vikas Bhatia who emphasised how India and its population can make millets mainstream again and pass on the health benefits to its masses as well as support its farmers. Dean Dr Rahul narrated his experience of the incorporation of millet into his diet.
"I am happy to note that the United Nations accepted a suggestion from India and declared 2023 as the International Year of Millets. If more and more people turn to millets, it will help conserve ecology and also improve health," said the President of India, Droupadi Murmu.
AIIMS Bibinagar celebrated one year of the PSA oxygen plant
The medical institute celebrated the first anniversary of the PSA oxygen plant, and medical gas supply system on January 23, 2023. The occasion was graced by Prof. Dr Vikas Bhatia, Exec. Director & Prof. Dr Rahul Narang, Dean (Acad). Thanks to PM Care, GOI for all the timely support during COVID, said AIIMS official statement.
Prof. (Dr) Vikas Bhatia emphasised the importance of strengthening, and upgradation of self-reliant oxygen supplies for effective management of oxygen emergencies like COVID pandemics. AIIMS Bibinagar now is self-reliant in terms of oxygen supply, 2000 lpm through PSA plants.
"Under the guidance of Director Prof. (Dr) Vikas Bhatia, and MS Prof. (Dr) Neeraj Agarwal the Team of faculty Dr Kalyani SDL, Dr Ayya Syama Sundar and Dr CH Rama Krishna Prasad are actively working in making the institute oxygen self-sufficient," reads AIIMS Bibinagar tweet.
