AIIMS Bilaspur expected to be completed by June; 86% work done

The much-awaited 750-bedded hospital AIIMS Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh is expected to be completed by June. 

The year is an election year, and considering this it is expected that the Himachal Pradesh government is keen to wrap up the promising AIIMS Bilaspur project as soon as possible. As per reports, nearly 86% of the work is complete and the hospital is expected to be complete by June 2022.

The outdoor patient department (OPD) services at AIIMS Bilaspur were made functional on December 5, 2021. Before even getting completed, the AIIMS has reportedly made fully functional 136 surgeries and in OPDs as many as 11,010 patients have already been examined in the OPD till February 18, as reported by The Tribune.

There are hardly any private hospitals in Himachal Pradesh and hence the establishment of AIIMS is much awaited by the people of Himachal Pradesh.

AIIMS Bilaspur Details

The hospital will have 750 beds, a medical college with a student intake of 100 MBBS students, a trauma centre and a nursing college with 60 seats of B.Sc (Nursing). 

There will be 16 operation theatres (OT), 64 ICU beds, 20 speciality/super-speciality and an Ayush Department having 30 beds. AIIMS Bilaspur will have several buildings for housing faculty members.

It is expected to have all super-speciality services like nephrology, gastroenterology, hepatology, pulmonary medicine among others.

The estimated cost of the AIIMS Bilaspur is INR 1351 crore and so far a sum of INR 960.38 crores has been spent on creating top-class health facilities. The hospital was sanctioned in January 2018 by the Union Cabinet when JP Nadda was the Union Minister for Health before taking over as the BJP national chief.
