BJP national president JP Nadda hopes that AIIMS, Bilaspur will be fully functional by next year and be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

While inaugurating the outpatient department (OPD) of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bilaspur, BJP national president and Rajya Sabha member, JP Nadda said that he expects the health institute to be fully functional by June next year and also hopes that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the institute.

He also congratulated the frontline Covid workers and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur as Himachal Pradesh became the first state in India to fully vaccinate its entire adult population. Nadda was in Bilaspur to attend the programme organised to celebrate this remarkable achievement of the state government.

During the event, nearly 53,86,393 eligible adults have been administered the second dose of the Covid vaccine and many Covid 19 workers were honoured.

Nadda said that the annual expenditure to run AIIMS, Bilaspur will be nearly INR 2,000 crore and a total of INR 44,000 crore will be set aside for the 22 AIIMS.

Nadda lauded the work of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in strengthening the country's health infrastructure. He said that the premier health institutes like Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh and AIIMS, Delhi were built around 1960 and after that, no such health institutes were built in other parts of the country until 2014. Now, under PM's leadership, as many as 22 AIIMS are being built across the country, he added, as reported by NDTV.

As per reports, AIIMS, Bilaspur will have 750 beds and once the institute becomes functional, the people of Himachal Pradesh will no longer require to go to PGIMER or AIIMS for treatment.
