The inauguration of the AIIMS in Gorakhpur will be done next month. Since 2004 there has been a demand for setting up an AIIMS in Gorakhpur, said Yogi Adityanath.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced that the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) will be inaugurated in Gorakhpur in December. He also announced that a fertilizer factory that had been kept closed since 1990 will be restarted. 

While addressing a gathering after the inauguration or foundation laying of 86 development schemes worth more than Rs 316 crore here, Adityanath said, "The inauguration of the AIIMS in Gorakhpur will be done next month. Since 2004 there has been a demand for setting up an AIIMS in Gorakhpur."

He also said that the fertilizer factory which has been lying closed since 1990 will be restarted next month. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate both facilities to the public. He said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, there has been a tremendous transformation in the healthcare sector in the state. There were only 12 medical colleges in the state since Independence, but today the government is constructing 33 new medical colleges. Uttar Pradesh goes to assembly polls early next year.

"In Gorakhpur and Basti Commissionerate, which had only 01 Medical College earlier, today BRD Medical College has progressed strongly with 05 Medical Colleges, 01 AIIMS and Super Specialty Block in it. The best health facilities are being provided to the people here," Yogi Adityanath further said.

Established in 2019, AIIMS Gorakhpur is a government medical research institute located in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. It is one of the four ‘Phase-IV’ All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) announced by the Ministry of Healthcare and Family Welfare (MHFW) under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY)in July 2014.
