AIIMS Madurai Project to be completed by Oct 2026, says Govt

While replying to a question in Lok Sabha, Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya said that the AIIMS Madurai will be completed by October 2026.

"As per loan agreement signed with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the targeted date of completion of AIIMS Madurai is October 2026," said Mansukh Mandaviya.

At AIIMS Madurai, pre-investment work was completed. A Project Management Consultant (PMC) has been appointed. The master plan has been finalized. A tender for the main work has been issued to the prequalified bidders. MBBS classes commenced from a temporary campus, he added.

He was replying to a question asked by S Venkatesan who asked him to provide details of the AIIMS projects sanctioned during the last nine years 2015-23 along with dates and details of the stages of completion of each project; details of the stage of work progress at AIIMS project at Madurai; and the time by which AIIMS, Madurai is expected to be fully operational?

Mansukh Mandaviya apprised the Lok Sabha that the construction work is completed for AIIMS Mangalagiri in Andhra Pradesh, AIIMS Nagpur (Maharashtra), AIIMS Kalyani in West Bengal, AIIMS Gorakhpur in UP, AIIMS Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh and AIIMS Bathinda in Punjab. Also, MBBS classes, OPD services and IPD services are operationalised in these medical colleges.

For AIIMS Guwahati, AIIMS Deoghar and AIIMS Bibinagar's construction work is completed by 95%, 97% and 43% respectively. 

92% of construction work is completed in AIIMS Vihaypur (Jammu) and MBBS classes started. In AIIMS Awatipora and AIIMS Rajkot, 1. 44% of construction work completed and 79% of construction work completed respectively.
