AIIMS Raipur: MBBS student dies by suicide
An MBBS student reportedly committed suicide at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Raipur.
A second-year MBBS student of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Raipur reportedly died by suicide at the institute’s hostel on Saturday, police said. The deceased was identified as Shivam Pawar (20) who hailed from Madhya Pradesh.
A case of accidental death has been registered by the police. He returned to his hostel room after attending a class in the afternoon and sometime later other students found him hanging in his room, said a police official, as reported by The Print.
Police sent the body for autopsy while the cause behind the alleged suicide was yet to be ascertained, he added.

The student reportedly committed suicide by hanging on a ceiling fan. As per Dainik Bhaskar's report, police also spoke to other students at AIIMS and collected some important information.
According to the information received from AIIMS management, the student met other colleagues before taking such an extreme step, he had also gone to attend the class. He attended the class, and then went to his room in the hostel. He locked the room from the inside. After some time when friends came to call him for lunch, the door did not open. The students told the seniors. After this, the room was opened with a duplicate key. Inside, the student was hanging on a noose made of the bedsheet.
Shivam was a resident of Damoh in MP. Some of his friends have told the police that for the past few days, Shivam was depressed about his studies. AIIMS has also formed a committee, which will investigate the matter internally.
