#postponeneetpg2022 is gaining momentum with every passing day! Medical students across the nation are demanding the postponement of NEET-PG 2022 as the current year’s postgraduate admission process is delayed and many students are awaiting completion of their mandatory internships. The National Board of Examinations has already rescheduled NEET PG Exam 2022 to May 21, but aspirants claim the admissions for the current academic session - 2021-22 - is likely to get over around May 10, and there will be little time left to prepare.
Will NEET PG 2022 Exam be Postponed?
On Monday a circular started making rounds on the internet stating that the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has written to the National Board of Examinations (NBE), which conducts NEET-PG, asking them to postpone the exam by six to eight weeks.
While the students want neet pg 2022 exam date postponed, however, an official from the Union Ministry of Family Health and Welfare told TOI that the circular was fake and there is no plan to postpone the exam further. “We are already late by five months. NEET-PG is usually conducted in January, and we are conducting it in May. At some point, we have to make an attempt to return to normalcy. Students should have ideally started preparing as the counselling process is being conducted online,” said the official.
AIJNSA backs #postponeneetpg2022 Campaign
As the students are enthusiastically trending #postponeneetpg2022 wanting neet pg 2022 exam date to be postponed, the All India JEE-NEET Students Association (AJINSA) is now supporting medical students. Listing the demands of NEET PG aspirants, AJINSA president Himanshu Borah has written a letter to the Health and Family Minister, Mansukh Mandaviya. The letter reads, “The NEET PG 2021 examination was held on September 11, 2021, but the counselling got delayed by months and presently it is going on. All India counselling stray rounds will end on May 3, 2022. The counselling in many states will commence after May 3, 2022, which will probably finish between mid to end of May making it to clash with the examination date for the next session that is scheduled on May 21, 2022. Also, doctors attending the counselling are not even sure if will they will be able to achieve a seat or not. This will result in the loss of one precious year of the career of these doctors.”
It further stated, “As per the policy of NMC there needs to be sufficient gap between Counselling of one session and next examination. But this year the all-India counseling will be over by May 3, 2022, and State counselling will start afterwards which might go till mid of May. The examination is scheduled for May 21, just a few days after the completion of All India counseling. This is unfair to these aspirants.”
Over 5000 interns not eligible for NEET PG 2022 due to COVID-19 duties
Expressing the need to postpone neet pg 2022 exam, Borah said, “More than 5000 interns all over India are ineligible for NEET PG as their internship was delayed due to COVID duties in final year. The COVID duty was instructed by the Government to fill the scarcity of Doctors during the COVID time. The present internship deadline doesn't allow them to appear for NEETPG 2022 and will have to wait for one year. This will result in the loss of one precious year of the career of these doctors.”
#postponeneetpg2022 Campaign Demands: Defer NEET PG 2022 by Nine Weeks
Listing down the demands of the medical students preparing to appear for NEET PG 2022 who want NEET PG 2022 exam postponed, Borah said,
- As per the NMC policy, there should be a proper gap between counseling of one session and the scheduled next examination. So the examination of NEET PG 2022 should be deferred by a minimum of 9 (Nine) weeks of time. This will be a big relief to our young doctors who are assets to our nation.
- The ineligible interns can be made eligible by extending the criteria of eligibility by a few months as they have served mankind in tough pandemic times on the behest of the government as a result of which their internships got delayed. Loss of one year is a drastic loss to those doctors’ career. So, GOI should provide relief to our COVID warriors.
