AISU Demands Investigation in Kolkata Doctor Case; Seeks CJI Intervention for Justice

AISU is seeking the Hon'ble Chief Justice of India intervention for judicial interference in the tragic incident of the Kolkata doctor case at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. 

Kolkata Doctor Case

All India Student's Union (AISU) has decided to submit a petition to the Chief Justice of India (CJI) amid the heinous Kolkata doctor case at the RG Kar Medical College & Hospital. The union is urging everyone to join in demand for justice for the tragic incident at the Kolkata Medical College where a trainee doctor was brutally murdered. 

The petition to CJI seeks intervention of justice for a fair, transparent and expeditious investigation in order to attain the justice in Koltaka doctor rape-murder case. 

The union urged everyone to sign the petition, take a stand against such egregious acts and join a collective call for justice and systematic change. 

Kolkata Doctor Case

What Is the Case? 

A second-year student of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata was found dead at the seminar hall of the hospital. As per the autopsy report, the student was physically assaulted before the murder. Later on, the Kolkata Police arrested a suspect, Sanjay Roy, who had allegedly murdered and tried to hide the evidence of the act.

The latest turn of events at the Kolkata doctor case highlights the nationwide strike of medical students seeking justice for the PG medical student. The Federation of Resident Doctors' Association (FORDA) has announced the strike and halting of elective service in hospitals in solidarity with RG Kar Medical College Resident.  

Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has given a seven-day deadline to the WB police to make progress in the Kolkata doctor case. Failing this, she would hand over the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
