AP govt to appoint new Joint Directors to monitor service providers at GMCH

Andhra Pradesh government has decided to appoint new Joint Directors to monitor the service providers at government teaching hospitals across the State. The aim is to enhance the monitoring system of teaching hospitals.

Minister for Health, Medical and Family Welfare Vidadala Rajini has confirmed that the proposals have been submitted to the government, as reported by Indian Express.

The Minister said that all the services of CT and MRI Scanning should be provided to the patients free of cost and the sanitation on the hospital premises should be improved.

She added that the state government has been developing all the hospitals from village clinics to teaching hospitals on a par with corporate hospitals in the state.

On Tuesday, Ms Rajini along with Government Whip and MLA Samineni Udaya Bhanu, NTR District Collector S. Dilli Rao and others inaugurated a 50-bed Community Health Centre (CHC) and two Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHC) in Jaggaiahpeta of NTR district.

Andhra Pradesh can reserve medical seats for domicile students

Earlier, the Telangana government tweaked its Medical and Dental Colleges Admissions Rules of 2017, allowing all seats in medical colleges — established after June 2, 2014 — to be reserved exclusively for students from the state. Now, it is anticipated that the AP government will take a similar decision.

Currently, there are a total of 6,109 UG and 2,708 PG seats available in government and private medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh. These include the five government colleges that were recently approved for the academic year 2023-24, as well as Padmavathi Medical College under SVU limits.
