Attack on Purnia Doctor: Bihar IMA calls for strike today

IMA Bihar has called for a statewide strike today to protest against an attack on a surgeon at his private clinic in Purnia. The incident occured on last Friday.
As per TOI report, IMA senior Vice President Dr Sunil Kumar said, doctors at private and government hospitals, medical collegs and nursing homes across the state will not attend their medical duties today and all private clinics will remain closed. However, emergency services will continue in both private and government hospitals.
Such incidents are being reported from many parts of the country and the medical fraternity have been demanding protection against such incidents.
In a recent incident involving politician and poet Kumar Vishwas, the security personnel of Mr Vishwas attacked a doctor in Ghaziabad.
"Such incidents are not only deeply unfortunate but also reflect a serious breach of ethical conduct and a threat to the safety of healthcare professionals who work tirelessly to save lives. We urge the local authorities to take immediate and strict action against those responsible for this incident. Violence against healthcare professionals is unacceptable, and it is crucial that those responsible are held accountable for their actions. Let us come together as a community to ensure the safety and respect of our dedicated healthcare professionals, said IMA on the incident.
Also, a doctor in West Bengal was attacked a few days ago. West Bengal Doctors Forum demanded an immediate arrest and charge of Medicare Act on those Puja extortionists, who heinously attacked Dr Sujan Das.
