A man was arrested in Bhopal by the local crime branch for duping a student of INR 1.2 lakh on the pretext of providing his brother’s admission in a nursing course at a private medical college in Misrod locality. The accused has been involved in such cases in the past too where he duped students on the pretext of providing admission to medical colleges.

The local crime branch in Bhopal has arrested a fraudster who allegedly duped a student INR 1.2 lakh on the pretext of providing his brother admission to a private medical college in a nursing course. The accused, identified as Balram Saha, has earlier also been involved in duping other aspiring medical students on the pretext of providing them admission to medical colleges. 

He met Mukesh Kumar, the victim, and told him that he is an employee of RKDF College and can get his brother admitted to the college in the nursing discipline. However, after taking the money he fled away with the amount. Then, the brothers approached the police and a case was registered against him. Police obtained the details of the bank account in which the money was transferred and filed a case under sections 419 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The accused was arrested in the Narmadapuram district. Police seized his mobile phone and SIM card.

Cyber ACP told India Today, "On January 14, we received a complaint that a man, posing as college staff, told the complainant that he would get his brother's admission in a nursing course at a private medical college in Misrod. The accused described himself as the staff of the nursing college and asked the complainant to deposit the money. He asked the complainant to deposit a sum of Rs 1.2 lakh in different instalments through UPI."
