Indian National Congress has lend support to students' demand to postpone NEET-UG 2021.
Now the Congress party has come forward to support the students demanding to postpone National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) to October.
On Tuesday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi tweeted: โGOI is blind to studentsโ distress."
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also tweeted, "Time after time the government pushes on against the legitimate demands of students across India. Why is it so hard for those in power to hear out and help those who are the future of our nation? Does their mental health and well being not matter?"
Congress leader Shashi Tharoor tweeted, "I am inundated w/ messages from NEET aspirants asking for their exams to be rescheduled &for more exam centres to be allocated when they are. Subjecting them to unreasonable exactions is shameful. It's time the BJP worked for people, not for bureaucrats!"
Shiromani Akali Dal leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal also said the Modi government is being insensitive and arrogant, as quoted by Hindustan Times.
The students also have been demanding to postpone NEET-UG citing that the exam date is clashing with many other exams. They also filed a plea in the supreme court to reschedule the exam, which the apex court has dismissed. National Test Agency (NTA) and Education Ministry have already confirmed that the exam date cannot be postponed any further and the students must focus on the preparation.
The NEET-UG is scheduled to be held on September 12 for admission to undergraduate medical courses such as Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH), Veterinary and other medical/paramedical courses in India.
