Demand Surges for NEET-UG 2024 Reexamination Amidst Patna Paper Leak Scandal
Massive NEET Paper Leak Network Exposed: Bihar Police Economic Offences Unit Unravels NEET-UG 2024 Scandal in Patna
In a shocking revelation, the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police has unearthed a massive paper leak scandal surrounding the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for undergraduate medical courses held on May 5, 2024. The scandal involves a sophisticated network of brokers who allegedly leaked question papers to candidates in exchange for exorbitant sums of money.
According to reports from the Bihar Police Headquarters, the brokers exploited vulnerable medical aspirants by charging them between Rs 30 lakh and Rs 50 lakh each, promising to provide leaked question papers ahead of the examination. These candidates were accommodated in lodges in Patna, where they were allegedly provided with question papers under the guise of NEET-UG papers for memorization.
Social and political activists have taken to social media platforms to demand justice and a reexamination for NEET-UG 2024, drawing parallels to similar incidents where exams were promptly canceled by the government in cases of proven leaks.
Dr. Vivek Pandey, a RTI activist, emphasized the urgency of the situation, citing the precedent set by the cancellation of exams in previous paper leak cases. Similarly, Mukesh Bangra, another concerned citizen, echoed the call for justice and highlighted the arrests made by the Patna police, including organizers and parents involved in the scandal.
The Bihar Police, responding to mounting pressure, has initiated a thorough investigation into the alleged irregularities surrounding NEET-UG 2024, particularly focusing on the activities in various centers in Patna. Thirteen individuals, including organizers and parents implicated in the paper leak, have been arrested so far, with further actions underway.
An eight-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by EOU SP Madan Kumar Anand has been constituted to crack the case. The probe has revealed the involvement of organized gangs with a history of such activities. The police discovered that the gang members operated from Learn Boys Hostel and Learn Play School in Khemnichak, Patna, where answer papers were allegedly solved for multiple aspirants.
The mastermind behind the scandal, identified as Sanjiv Singh, remains at large, with efforts underway to apprehend him. The investigation also uncovered the complicity of individuals holding influential positions, including a junior engineer and the wife of an elected official.
As the investigation intensifies, the Bihar Police is committed to bringing all perpetrators to justice and ensuring the integrity of future examinations. The scandal has raised serious concerns about the fairness and transparency of the NEET-UG 2024 exam, prompting calls for stringent measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
