FAIMA has requested Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to revisit the bond policy as it will lead to a lowering of medical education quality in the state.

FAIMA requests Haryana govt to revisit bond policy for MBBS admissions

The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) has requested the Haryana government to once again look into INR 40 lakh bond policy for admission to MBBS courses.

FAIMA has written a letter to Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. In the letter, FAIMA said, the Haryana government has introduced a bizarre 7 years mandatory bond after MBBS from medical colleges in the state and failing which would warrant a penalty of INR 40 lakhs. This would come as a shock to the average middle-class medical aspirant who would have a mortgage on his head right at the beginning of his education.

"Policies like these make meritorious students shy away from the Nobel profession or those who are capable enough leave the country accounting to brain drain. To protest against the same, MBBS students at the PGI Rohtak went on a peaceful dharna. However, the administration managed the issue with the utmost disgrace by using water cannons and forcefully evacuating students from the dharna site. This sets a very bad precedence of how medical education in general and the medical fraternity, in particular, is being handled in the country," added FAIMA's letter.

Doctors' Associations observed black day on November 7, 2022

Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) and other doctors' associations observed black day against the bond policy on November 7, 2022. FORDA's tweet reads, "Another black day for the medical fraternity in India. We call for a nationwide agitation starting with black ribbon protest on 7/11/22. We hope and request that the demands are met and bond policy removed."

"Huge participation from across the country in the black ribbon protest initiated by FORDA against the bond policy and atrocity of police towards doctors," reads another tweet by FORDA.
