FAIMA supports FMGs demand for more internship opportunities in India
After the Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) of Rajasthan initiated a strike on April 12, 2023, and demanded more counselling seats, the doctors association Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) has also supported their demand and said that many such graduates are sitting at home for last 3 months waiting for internships, read here for more details.
FAIMA tweet reads, "#FMG(Foreign Medical Graduates) are sitting at home for last 3 months due to unavailability of any seats for internship in various states of India. Requesting @NMC_IND to look into this matter of grave concern leading to wasting of precious time of Medicos!."
"Requesting @NMC_IND to kindly clarify about the internship seat allotment for FMGs. More than 200 FMGs are left without seats in J&K. Kindly increase the internship allotment for J&K so that they can join and continue thr internship without wasting more time," tweeted Dr Jitendra Singh, National President of All India Medical Students' Association_AIMSA.
"Representatives of #AIMSA will meet the Union Health Minister and NMC Chairman on Tuesday regarding the internship issues of FMG graduate," reads his another tweet.
"Rajasthan #FMGs even after passing exam almost 966 students left ,proving themselves eligible then also #Doctors forced to sit & strike," said one of the tweets.
