Fake NEET 2021 Exam Pattern goes viral, govt issues warning
The government has issued warning against several social media posts claiming ‘fake’ exam pattern of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET 2021). These posts state that NEET 2021 will have 50 questions per section. Read the details.
Several social media posts, claiming to have discovered the latest paper pattern for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2021 have gone viral. No official information regarding the number of questions to be asked in the medical entrance exam has been released till date. But some posts are claiming to have screenshots of the yet-to-be-released NEET 2021 brochure. As per these posts, NEET 2021 exam will have 50 questions per section instead of 45. According to viral social media messages, the exam would have a multiple-choice format where students will have to answer 45 out of the 50 questions.
The government has taken note of these social media posts and termed them as fake. Its fact check wing has issued a statement and has warned candidates not to rely on such social platforms.
“Several posts claiming that @DG_NTA has released the exam pattern of #NEET2021 are doing the rounds on social media #PIBFactCheck: This exam pattern is #Fake & not released by NTA. For updates, visit the NTA’s official website: https://nta.ac.in,” PIB tweeted.
These rumours are apparently based on the Ministry of Education's earlier announcement that this year's JEE and NEET entrance exams will have a choice of subjects. Although the JEE Main exam pattern has been published and exams have begun, no official confirmation has been made on the exact number of questions that will be asked in NEET this year. “The syllabus of JEE and NEET will remain unchanged for the year 2021, however, unlike previous years, this year the candidates will have options to answer the questions in JEE and NEET. The exact pattern for NEET (UG) 2021 is yet to be announced. However, in view of the reduction of the syllabus by some boards across the country, the NEET (UG) 2021 question paper will also have options on the lines of JEE (Main),” Education Ministry had said in an official statement earlier this year.
Conducted by NTA, NEET 2021 exam is a national-level entrance examination for admission into undergraduate medical courses. In an official release on March 12, 2021, NTA announced that it will conduct NEET 2021 on August 1, 2021 in 11 languages. The exam will be held once this year in online mode. NTA will start inviting NEET 2021 applications on its website anytime soon. It will also release an official information brochure, containing dates and details of key events.
