India is on high alert as the G20 Summit is being hosted in New Delhi on September 9-10.

G20 or Group of 20 is an intergovernmental forum comprising 19 countries and the European Union

Around 18,000 Indian students came back to India from war-hit Ukraine in February- March 2022, without completing their medical education and since then they have been holding protests at Jantar Mantar and outside the NMC Office. The protesting students have alleged that the Ukraine returned Indian medical students are under scanner during the G-20 summit in Delhi.

These students are still looking for ways to complete their medical degree in their own country. The protesting students have alleged that they have been in protest for the last two months standing outside at the gates of the National Medical Commission in Dwarka; Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Nirman Bhawan but never ever misbehaved or created obstruction to anyone but only used "Rashtragan" in their peaceful protest.

The students have stated that Being future doctors how can the Government of India think that the Ukraine-returned Indian medical students can misbehave? These students went for medical education in Ukraine in 2021 and returned to India when the Russia-Ukraine war broke out in 2022.

one-time permission to transfer to safe country

These students are demanding one-time permission to transfer to another safe country to complete their remaining medical education.

Earlier in March this year, the Centre informed the Supreme Court that students who returned to India from Ukraine will be given a single opportunity to clear the MBBS final exams -- both Part I and Part II exams (both theory and practical), without enrolling in any existing medical colleges.

The central government informed the SC that after clearing these two examinations, students will have to complete two years of compulsory rotatory internship, with the first year being free and the second year being paid, as decided by the National Medical Commission (NMC) for previous cases.

The students have alleged that the National Medical Commission is asking them to return to the war zone in Ukraine to complete the remaining education or leave the Medical Education mid-way and stay back in India.
