Gandhi Medical College Bhopal: PG student commits suicide by injecting self

Akanksha Maheshwari (24) of Gwalior was a first-year PG student of Gandhi Medical College (GMC), Bhopal, who reportedly committed suicide by injecting an overdose of injection.

Akanksha Maheshwari was a first-year PG student at Gandhi Medical College (GMC), Bhopal. As per reports, she took an overdose of painkillers and sedatives through injection after locking her hostel room from inside and died. She was a student in the paediatric department.

Police also recovered a suicide note from the hostel that said, "I am not very strong to handle so much stress. Sorry mummy, papa, and friends. I am taking the extreme step due to personal reasons and nobody is responsible for it," as reported by DNA.

There are speculations that there was a lot of work pressure on the lady doctor, due to which she has taken this step.

As per the Indian Express report, police seized empty injection vials and a syringe from her room. The in-charge of Koh-e-Fiza police station Vijay Sisodia said that the doctor administered four doses of anaesthesia of 2.5 ml each.

Other hostel inmates said that they found her door closed since Wednesday morning and when it didn't open till evening, they alerted the security guard and medical management about it. When police reached the spot after getting the information, they opened the door forcibly and found the woman lying dead in the room.

She was a resident of Gwalior and joined the Bhopal government medical college a month back. She reportedly spoke to her family members at around 7 am on Wednesday. The police registered a case and probing into the matter.
