Hindu Rao Hospital Violence: FORDA urges urgent action
Residents of Hindu Rao Hospital are on complete strike from today against the recent violent incident that occurred in the hospital. FORDA has extended their support to the doctors on strike.
The Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) has extended support to the residents of Hindu Rao Hospital who are on a complete strike from today.
FORDA's tweet reads, "Urgent action required for the recent incident of violence at #HinduRaoHospital. The culprit, an @MCDdelhi employee is still roaming free. Residents go on COMPLETE STRIKE starting tomorrow and we lend them our full support. Requesting @OberoiShelly to take cognisance of the matter and help resolve it at the earliest. @DelhiGovDigital should be setting a right precedent for its doctors."
FORDA's letter to the Mayor of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi says, "On August 17, 2023, a violent incident occurred at the hospital involving a mob that targeted an on-duty surgery resident. This unfortunate incident was instigated by a nursing orderly employed at the same hospital. In the wake of this incident, the resident doctors protested and sought assurance from the hospital administration that strict action would be taken against the responsible employee. Regrettably, despite these assurances, no concrete steps have been taken to address this matter up until now."
FORDA demands the following:
- The issuance of an official order for the transfer of the assailants involved in the attack.
- Temporary suspension of the assailants from their duties until a thorough inquiry by the hospital administration is completed.
- Initiation of an institutional FIR against the assailants for assaulting a doctor on emergency duty.
- Implementation of enhanced security measures, including an increase in security personnel and the establishment of crowd control protocols, to prevent future incidents of mob violence.
The prompt resolution of this matter is crucial not only to ensure justice for the affected doctor but also to uphold the sanctity of healthcare institutions and protect the well-being of the medical fraternity, added FORDA's statement.
