J&K Govt assigned charges of Principals' posts of 3 GMCs
The Health and Medical Education Department of Jammu and Kashmir has assigned the job responsibilities of posts of Principals of three Government Medical Colleges till regular appointments to the posts are made.
Jammu and Kashmir government assigned the charges of posts of Principals of 3 government medical colleges. As per a government order released on January 2, 2023, Dr Surinder Kumar Atri ( Pathology, GMC Kathua) has been assigned the responsibilities of the Principal of GMC, Kathua, Dr Mrityunjay ( Physiology, GMC Jammu) and Dr Iffat Hassan Shah (Dermatology, GMC Srinagar) has been assigned the charges of Principals of GMC Udhampur and GMC Handwara respectively.
The order also directed these Principals to look after the new job responsibilities with immediate effect along with their current duties till regular appointments are completed for these posts.
The government order reads, "In the interest of administration and patient care, it is hereby ordered that following Professors/HODs shall temporarily look after the charge of the posts of Principals of the Government Medical Colleges, as indicated against each, in addition to their own duties, in their own pay and grade with immediate effect, till regular appointment to the posts are made."
As per the report of Greater Kashmir, the appointment of Dr Iffat Hassan Shah as Principal of Government Medical College (GMC) Handwara, has been widely welcomed by the people of district Kupwara.
The District administration has identified a rented accommodation for GMC in Handwara town of District Kupwara, besides, recruitment of the staff by the government is also in process.
The establishment of GMC Handwara was pending for a long, and the appointment of the Principal is being seen as one of the major achievements towards the establishment of the medical college.
