Jharkhand to recruit faculties in 5 GMC to strengthen healthcare infrastructure
Jharkhand is all set to recruit people for vacant posts of professors and associate professors in government medical colleges.
After being criticised by Jharkhand High Court and opposition party BJP for not keeping the health infrastructure up to the mark in the state, the Jharkhand government now intends to ramp up its healthcare and medical education infrastructure. The state government has decided to recruit 169 teaching faculties in five government medical colleges (GMC) of Jharkhand.
The hiring will be done on the basis of the new regulation that is Contract Based Appointment Rules, 2021. These contractual posts include 86 professors and 83 assistant professors in the five GMCs including Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College - Hazaribagh, Medinirai Medical College - Palamau, Phulo Janho Medical College - Dumka, Mahatama Gandhi Memorial Hospital - Jamshedpur, and Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College and Hospital - Dhanbad.
The decision was taken after a cabinet meeting on August 24 which approved the Contract Based Appointment Rules, 2021 to fill the vacant posts of professors and associate professors.
The hiring will be done through walk-in interviews. The state Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare departments have invited applications of qualified candidates for the posts of professors and associate professors in these five medical colleges. A committee has been established for selecting candidates as per the norms and the upper age limit of appointment is set at 70 years.
The salary for these posts will be in the range of Rs 2 Lakh to Rs 2.5 Lakh and any faculty appointed for any particular GMC will not be transferred to any other colleges, as stated by the Jharkhand government.
