JMI: Faculty of Dentistry celebrates World Prosthodontist Day
The program was coordinated by Prof Eram Perwez and Prof Shabina Sachdeva from the Dept of Prosthodontics.
The Faculty of Dentistry, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) celebrated World Prosthodontist Day on January 25, 2024. It is celebrated all over the world to spread awareness of recent developments in the field of Prosthodontics and to celebrate the contribution of the fraternity of Prosthodontics–a speciality that deals with the rehabilitation of teeth. Prof Eqbal Hussain, Officiating Vice Chancellor, JMI presided over as the chief guest for the event. A Tree plantation commemorating World Prosthodontist Day was also carried out in his gracious presence.
To instil the spirit of this speciality amongst our students, a number of events were lined up during the week through various competitions like Dental Material Art, Educational Prostho Movie Reels and Stage Play. The students enthusiastically participated and demonstrated their true artistic abilities.
The Dean, of the Faculty of Dentistry, Prof. Keya Sircar addressed the faculty members and students and congratulated the Department of Prosthodontics on organizing the event.
Two very eminent speakers, Prof. Manu Rathee,(Prof. and Head, Dept of Prosthodontics,PGIDS, Rohtak) and Prof Ushvinder Kaur Popli (Prof and Former Head of the Dept of Social Work, JMI) presented informative talks on “Special Oral Health Care of Geriatric Population” and “ Elderly in Contemporary Society” respectively.
Two alumni of the Faculty of Dentistry, JMI who have done their MDS in Prosthodontics and are now working in prestigious institutes, Dr Naila Perween (BDS-Batch 2011) and Dr Sehrish Khan (BDS Batch 2014) were also a part of the event and shared their success stories with the gathering. In the end, all winners of various competitive activities held were felicitated with the certificates.
