The doctors' strike began at 6 am today, March 17, 2023, and it will end at 6 pm. Indian Medical Association said that only casualty services and emergency surgeries will be carried out today at both private and government hospitals. The strike is against the continuing attacks on doctors and nurses in the state. The doctors are also planning to intensify the protest.

Kerala doctors on statewide strike today 

Kerala's doctors are protesting against the continuing attack on doctors and nurses in the state. The doctors began their strike today, March 17, 2023, at 6 am and they will end the strike at 6 pm today. Later on, they are planning to intensify their protest. During the strike, only casualty cases will be taken and emergency surgeries will be carried out.

More than 40 doctors' associations have declared their solidarity with the strike. Doctors will conduct demonstrations at IMA headquarters at Anayara in Thiruvananthapuram and its district centres from 10 am, as reported by Mathrubhumi.com.

The state unit of the Indian Medical Association has alleged that the government is keeping a distance from the concerns raised by the association.

One of the tweets in this regard reads, "After MP,JHARKHAND ,NOW Kerala doctors are going on strike on March 17 to protest against the increasing violence against HCWs. Over the last 3 years, >200 attacks have been reported => 1 attack every 5th day. State government have failed to control."

Indian Medical Association is demanding an immediate arrest of the accused persons who attacked a doctor at Fathima Hospital, Kozhikode, last week. The doctor was reportedly beaten up by the relatives of a woman alleging lapses in the death of her newborn baby.
