Kolkata Medical College: Serious allegations of mental, physical torture against Senior Ortho Resident
There are allegations of using abusive language in front of patients, doctors beaten in closed room, punched in abdomen in ward in front of sisters, and more.
The interns have written to the Principal of the college to bring to the college's notice about the ragging that has been happening against them.
“Many of us, those who were posted in that respective unit, and even those working in other units have witnessed severe and unacceptable physical and mental harassment being done to them in the hands of their seniors, Dr Diganta, Dr Shourya. Such instances include verbal abuse using unacceptable expletives, beating, holding by the collar in front of patients, nursing staff and GDA staff, throwing instruments at them, spitting on the face and many more,” reads the letter.
Medical College Students’ Union also released the official statement on the ragging and harassment case on the college campus. The statement says that the Unit Head and HOD of the Department of Orthopedics were completely ignorant about the matter. The entire Dept, all the members of Unit 1 know what happens daily but none of the Professors took any action against those goons. Even we have such info that the unit Head is rather supportive of those accused students.
As per the students’ union, victim students are facing mental issues due to this and taking psychiatric medicines for recovery from these issues.
