Kota administration bans routine tests at Coaching centres for 2 months

Since January till August 28, 2023, 24 cases of suicide have been reported. Of these, 13 students had come to Kota within two to three months to less than a year.
Kota district administration has asked the coaching institutes to suspend routine tests for the next two months after two students died by suicide this Sunday. As many as 24 students have died by suicide in Kota in 2023, compared to 15 in 2022.
Two students committed suicide in a single day, on Sunday. Both the students were preparing for the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET). Avishkar Shambaji Kasle, 17, from Maharashtra and Adarsh Raj, 18, from Bihar both died in two separate incidents in the city on Sunday. The former jumped from the sixth floor of his coaching institute's building while the latter hanged himself at his rented apartment.
Following the incident, the district administration has decided to stop the examinations and tests across all coaching centres in Kota. The Kota administration has stopped routine examinations in all the coaching centres of the district for two months.
Kota Deputy Superintendent of Police, KS Rathore after two NEET aspirants allegedly committed suicide within four hours on Sunday said: “A boy, who was preparing for NEET and also studying in Class 12, had his exam today. After taking the exam, he went to the sixth floor and jumped from there.”
On Sunday, two students committed suicide within a gap of four hours. Since January till August 28, 2023, 24 cases of suicide have been reported. Of these, 13 students had come to Kota within two to three months to less than a year. Seven students had been admission in the coaching institute one and a half months to five months back. Apart from these, two cases of attempted suicide have also come to the fore.
