Kota Suicides: NEET aspirant from West Bengal commits suicide in Rajasthan

The family members have been informed and police are investigating the suicide, said police.

A 20-year-old NEET aspirant from West Bengal has reportedly died by suicide in Rajasthan's Kota on Monday. He was identified as Faureed Hussain.

The deceased student was found hanging in his rented room in the Wakf Nagar area of the city. On reaching the hospital, he was declared dead by the doctors, as reported by India Today.

As per reports, the student stayed at rented accommodation which he was sharing with other housemates. He was last seen by students at nearly 4 pm, after which his room was locked from inside till around 7 pm. When Hussain did not respond to calls of friends, the landlord intervened and his body was found after the police reached the spot.

"No suicide note was recovered from his room, and the reason behind his extreme step is yet to be ascertained," the Circle Inspector said.

Kota has been witnessing an alarming surge in student suicide cases over the past few months, raising concerns among the local authorities. The fear is so much in the area that the authorities have now made it mandatory to install anti-hanging devices in ceiling facts at all coaching centres and issued directives for colleges to refrain from conducting any exams for a period of two months. This year, this is the 28th such case in Kota which is the hub for students preparing for medical and engineering entrance exams.
