Madhya Pradesh to get seven new government medical colleges soon

As per reports, as many as seven new government medical colleges will come up in Madhya Pradesh soon within the next couple of years.

From the new academic session in Madhya Pradesh, seven new government medical colleges (GMCs) are going to open in the state. For this, a letter will soon be sent to the National Medical Commission (NMC) on behalf of the medical colleges. The budget earmarked by the government for these medical colleges is INR 325 crore, of which 60% will be assisted by the Government of India.

Director Medical Education Dr Jiten Shukla said, “ work is going on to prepare buildings for these colleges. In preparation, we will apply to the National Medical Commission.”

With openings of these new medical colleges in the state, the total number of government medical colleges (GMC) will be 20 and seats will increase from 2035 to 3070 in GMCs, as reported by Free Press Journal.

The seven new medical colleges will be opened in Mandsaur, Singrauli, Satna, Mandla, Sheopur, Rajgarh, and Neemuch.

Three more medical colleges to come in three years

Other than these seven new medical colleges, approval has been given to open three more new medical colleges that will take two to three years to complete.

These new medical colleges are being started in collaboration with the Central government and are expected to remove the shortage of doctors and medical teachers in the state. Later, these colleges will also offer MD-MS courses which will produce more specialists doctors in the state.
