Madras HC supports FMG; Says she can practice medicine despite Enlish not compulsary subject in her curriculum

Madras HC came in support of a FMG and said that she cannot be stopped from practicing medicine only because English was not a compulsory subject in her higher secondary curriculum.
Madras High Court supported a FMG, who completed her MBBS degree from China. Chief Justice Sanjay V. Gangapurwala and Justice D. Bharatha Chakravarthy allowed a writ appeal filed by Ouwshitha Surendran in 2022 and said: βThe appellant has undergone her education in competent and proper institutions. She has completed her MBBS Course by proper 10 +2 + 5 years. Like any other student, she is also entitled to lead a professional life and career and her case deserves consideration empathetically," as reported by The Hindu.
The Background
Ouwshitha Surendran, a FMG, obtained her MBBS degree from China. She studied in an English medium school till Class X and had an IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score of 7.5 out of 9. The high court bench observed that after completion of her Class X at a CBSE school in Kodaikanal, the petitioner's family had moved to Sri Lanka where she pursued her hgher education. After which she completed her MBBS from China.
The court also called for the sealed cover and found that she cleard the FMGE too.
The Court said that to make her sit at home despite her qualification would cause gravest prejudice to her. The bench directed NMC to declare the result and register her as medical practitioner.
