Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, remotely inaugurated the ‘JIS School of Medical Science, Research Centre & Hospital’ on July 24, 2023. JIS Group, a renowned educational conglomerate, in association with the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal has started the ‘JIS School of Medical Science, Research Centre & Hospital’ in Santragachi, Howrah in Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode.

Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Taranjit Singh, Managing Director, of JIS Group, expressed his vision for the institution, stating, “We are delighted to be a part of this transformative initiative in the field of medical education. Our mission is to create a world-class medical institution that nurtures young talent and produces future healthcare leaders. Through this venture, we aim to contribute significantly to the healthcare landscape of West Bengal. We look forward to the unwavering support of the Government of West Bengal, esteemed faculty members, and the community at large as we embark on this noble journey to transform healthcare education and services in the region,” as reported by Business News This Week.

The JIS Group had inked an MOU at the ‘Bengal Global Business Summit’ with the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of West Bengal, to establish the ‘JIS School of Medical Science, Research Centre & Hospital’ with a significant investment of INR 1500 crores. 

As per the approval granted by the National Medical Council, the ‘JIS School of Medical Science, Research Centre & Hospital’ will offer admission to 150 students annually to its MBBS course, which will be effective from the academic year 2023-24.

 The project will be established under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, with a total project cost of INR 1500 crores, showcasing the commitment of both the JIS Group and the Government of West Bengal to revolutionize healthcare and medical education in the region.
