The deceased who belonged to Patna in Bihar was said to be suffering from depression.

An MBBS student from TS Mishra Medical College allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the ninth floor of the college building in Lucknow. As per reports, the deceased who belonged to Patna in Bihar was said to be suffering from depression. The body has been sent for the post-mortem examination. A case has been registered at the Sarojini Nagar police station and further investigation into the case is on. 

There has been a sudden spike in the number of suicides at premier institutions such as IIT Bombay and IIT Madras. On February 12, Darshan Solanki, an 18-year-old engineering student, jumped off the seventh floor of his hostel building at IIT Bombay. The family of the deceased has alleged that caste-based discrimination might be the reason for him taking the extreme step. A day later, a student of IIT Madras allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at a hostel of the institute. He was a second-year research student in the electrical engineering department at IIT Madras. It has been learnt hat the student had taken the extreme step due to depression.  

In January this year, a 21-year-old MBBS student died allegedly by suicide. He was a second-year student of NHL Medical College. The police said the boy was under severe stress due to his studies. He was trying to deal with it and had even asked his mother to live with him. He left the hostel in November and had since been living with her in a rented flat.
