Medical admissions cancelled in Telangana: Students demand seats in other colleges
The students whose admissions have been cancelled in Telangana are now demanding seats in other medical colleges.
National Medical Council (NMC) has recently cancelled the undergraduate and postgraduate admissions in three private medical colleges in Telangana. Now, nearly 50 PG students who were enrolled at these medical colleges have protested at Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Science (KNRUHS) and demanded that the health University's authorities must accommodate them in other medical colleges in the state.
The students are demanding that KNRUHS authorities must follow the NMC orders and adjust their admissions to other colleges. The students have met the registrar of the university Dr D Praveen Kumar and submitted a memorandum in this regard, as reported by Indian Express.
No student will lose his/her seat, assures the registrar
Dr D Praveen Kumar has said that after clear guidelines from the NMC, the students in the respective colleges would be adjusted in various medical colleges within the university as per the regulations.
"The university will take all measures to ensure that the students’ future is not in a jeopardy. No student will lose his/her seat," he added.
The protesting students have alleged that the Vice-Chancellor of the university Dr B Karunakar Reddy deliberately misguided the NMC authorities and the state government due to his personal differences with the medical management. The students have also asked why they should lose an academic year of medical studies.
Earlier, these students also tried to meet Dr B Karunakar Reddy but the VC refused to meet the students. The colleges where admissions have been cancelled are MNR Medical College and Hospital, Sangareddy, Mahavir Institute of Medical Sciences, Vikarabad and TRR Institute of Medical Sciences, Patancheru.
