Medical education in Haryana gets expensive amid revised fee structure
The Haryana government has decided to revise the fee structure for various medical courses. Consequently, medical education in the state is going to be costlier.
The proposal was suggested last year by the Fee Fixation Committee of the Department of Medical Education and Research for fixing the MD/MS courses fee structure of the Pt BD Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak affiliated colleges.
After the state government received a lot of criticism from the opposition on this matter, the government has decided to follow the revised fee structure with the new session. The revised fee will be applicable from the academic year 2021-22 onwards.
Department of Medical Education and Research's detailed order stated, “Haryana government has further considered revising the free structure of ANM/GNM/MPHW (M)/BSc Nursing/ Post Basic BSc Nursing/ MSc Nursing/ BPT/ MPT and MBBS courses in government institutes from the academic session 2021-22 onwards.”
Revised Fee Structure
In the tuition fee category, including development charges, the government has proposed a fee structure of:
- Rs 9.5 lakh plus 10 per cent annual increase in pre-clinical specialities that comprises Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry
- Rs 11.50 lakh plus 10 per cent annual increase in para-clinical specialities that include Community Medicine, Forensic Medicine, Pathology, Microbiology, and pharmacology
- Rs 20 lakh plus 10 per cent annual increase in clinical specialities including Dermatology, (DVL) Radiodiagnosis, Otorhinolaryngology, Radiotherapy, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Respiratory Medicine, Psychiatry, General Medicine and General Surgery
There will be more additional charges like university charges, Rs 10,000 as college security, library charge of Rs 10,000, thesis charge (Rs 5,000), medical charges of Rs 6,000, research and consumables charge (Rs 20,000) and gym and sports charges.
As per the revised structure, many medical courses' fees like BSc Nursing and MSc Nursing will increase considerably.
