Meerut: Nursing student commits suicide by hanging from fan

Arzoo, a nursing student, has reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself in her hostel room. She was a student of BSc nursing and a resident of Delhi.

The tragic incident took place on Sunday night when she hanged herself from a fan in her hostel room. The initial investigation revealed that she was under stress, as said by Circle Officer Devesh Kumar Singh. Also, the local police station in charge Bacchu Singh has confirmed that a suicide note has been found.

"Radha swami, mother and father forgive me. I am worried about my blood cancer. The body is not supporting. I don't even feel like studying. So the fear of not scoring good marks in the exam is haunting me. That's why I am giving my life. No one is responsible for my death," reads the suicide note.

As per reports, on Monday, Arzoo's room in the hostel was locked from the inside. When the room did not open even till 11 o'clock, the friends knocked on the door. After this, the other students reached the college and took the information. The door of the room was broken in the presence of the college staff and the police. Arzoo's body was hanging from the fan inside the room. Upon getting the information, Arju's relatives also reached out. They reportedly said that they never thought that their daughter would take such an extreme step. The forensic team has seized Arzoo's mobile, as reported by Dainik Jagran.

NMC took note of rising suicide by medical students

National Medical Commission recently constituted an Anti-Ragging Committee and also asked medical colleges to submit a detailed report on the number of students who have committed suicide during the last 5 years. They sought information regarding PG medical students and also directed the colleges to take care of the mental health and well-being of these PG medical students.
