MP HC issues notice to NBEMS after NEET PG aspirant’s admission revoked
The Division Bench of Chief Justice Ravi Malimath and Justice Vishal Mishra have issued notice to Bundelkhand Medical College and NBMES.
Madhya Pradesh High Court has issued notices to respondent authorities including NBEMS in a writ petition filed against them.
The plea was against the cancellation of the seat allotment of a NEET PG aspirant on the ground that admission was made on an excess seat.
The petitioner was allotted a seat in the M.S. in Oto-Rhino-Laryngology (ENT) at Bundelkhand Medical College through the second mop-up round conducted on September 29, 2023. The candidate was selected through the counselling process after clearing the NEET PG exam. However, after the admission process was complete and a fee of INR 2 lakh was submitted, the admission was cancelled.
While rejecting the admission order, MP’s Director of Medical Education allegedly cited the reason that the admission was cancelled due to an error that crept into the admission process due to ‘an error in the vacancy chart’, as reported by Live Law.
In his petition, the student has sought a direction permitting him to continue the post-graduation in MS (ENT) at Bundelkhand Medical College. Through the writ petition, the student also sought interim relief for all students who were granted admission securing lower rank than the petitioner. The plea demanded that he be permitted to pursue the course in any other medical college in the state.
The notice issued by the high court said that the admission cancellation snatched the valuable right of the petitioner to avail of education as a postgraduate student.
The last date for admission to postgraduate courses in Madhya Pradesh was October 25, 2023.
