Nagpur Medical college reports 11 Covid-19 cases

Datta Meghe Medical College in Nagpur reports 11 new Covid-19 cases, as confirmed by the dean of the college.


On Tuesday, the dean of Datta Meghe Medical College in Nagpur, Maharashtra has said that at least 11 first-year students of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) have tested positive for Covid-19. The student's positive report came during tests in the last two days.
After the report came, the college has taken all the necessary precautions. Nearly 100 students are quarantined in the hostel and none of them has any symptoms such as fever and their oxygen levels are also good.

India TV quoted Dr Dilip Gode, the dean of Datta Meghe Medical College, "We have dengue patients getting treatment at a hospital attached to the medical college. When two of our students suffered from fever, we suspected it could be dengue. However, before admitting them to the hospital, we carried out rapid antigen tests which confirmed on Sunday that they were coronavirus positive."
After the few cases were detected, the doctors conducted an RT-PCR test on all 60 students who had symptoms and out of which nine tested positive on Monday. Today, RT-PCR tests will be conducted on all students at the hostel.
"The college is attached to the Shalinitai Meghe Hospital & Research Centre, which is a dedicated COVID-19 hospital. We have all the know-how about the treatment and none of the students has any symptoms. Doctors are visiting students in their rooms," he added.
The fear of the third wave of Covid-19 still looms in India, the government and authorities are taking all precautions to curb any possible outbreaks of the virus.
As per the health ministry, India reported 37,875 new Covid cases and 369 deaths on Wednesday.
