NCPCR writes to NTA to request NEET UG twice a year
The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights submitted a representation to the National Testing Agency and requested the agency to conduct the NEET UG exam twice a year to ease the high-stress level of the aspirants.
The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) forwarded representation to National Testing Agency to request the agency to conduct the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduates (NEET-UG) twice a year.
The representation was sent in response to an application received by NCPCR from Navneet Singh, a member of the All India Students Union (AISU).
“The commission has received a complaint on the Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) from Navneet Singh, AISU member. According to the complaint, conducting NEET UG twice a year would be a big relief for aspirants. If candidates do not get medical seats in the first attempt, then they will have another opportunity to try and get the seats. This will save students from waiting for an entire year and the students who will be able to score better marks will get admission in good medical colleges,” read a letter by Dharmendra Bhandari, principal personal secretary to NCPCR chairperson Priyank Kanoongo.
AISU has also submitted a letter to the Chairman of the National Medical Commission and requested to conduct the NEET UG examination twice a year. Moreover, the All India JEE NEET Students Association (AIJNSA) wrote to union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya and urged him to conduct the NEET UG examination twice a year.
The main reason for this demand is the huge stress levels of NEET aspirants every year. NEET is a crucial exam that decides the future of the candidates and the competition is increasing every year as more students are registering for the exam. Hence, the students' associations are now suggesting that conducting the NEET UG exam twice a year will ease a lot of stress for the candidates.
