NEET 2021 Results: NTA knocks SC doors against Bombay HC order
NTA has moved to SC against Bombay HC order that halted the result declaration of two NEET 2021 candidates.
Two National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET 2021) candidates had alleged that their test booklets and OMR sheets had gotten mixed up during the exam on September 12. On this, Bombay High Court had suspended the declaration of the results of these two candidates. Now, the latest is, NTA (National Testing Agency) has moved to the apex court against the Bombay HC order.
NTA, in its appeal to Supreme Court, has said that due to the Bombay High Court's order, it is not able to declare the results even when the agency is ready with the results. Bombay HC order, in this case, has put the results of lakhs of students on hold who appeared in NEET UG 2021 and eagerly waiting for the results.
NTA appeal to SC reads, "The delay in declaration of Result of NEET (UG) 2021 will affect and further delay the subsequent process of admission to Undergraduate Medical Courses i.e. MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, BUMS and BHMS Course."
Bombay HC Proceedings Details
On September 24, two NEET 2021 candidates had moved to HC and alleged that when they appeared for NEET 2021 on September 12 at Shree Swami Narayan Gurukul International School at Solapur, the invigilators started distributing test booklets and answer sheets to students five minutes late. Also, they mixed the booklets and sheets. As per these students, they immediately pointed these things to the invigilators, but the invigilator didn't do anything about it.
The students' advocate pointed out in the HC that the NEET Booklet Code clause 7 mandates the invigilator to rectify such mistakes and provide the correct test booklet and answer sheet to the concerned student.
NTA had informed the HC that it was unable to find a solution to these students' problems, prompting Bombay HC to order a re-examination of these students. The High Court further directed NTA to declare the results of the re-examination of the petitioners along with the result of other students who appeared in NEET 2021 on September 12.
NTA also submitted in the Supreme Court that this order would set the wrong precedent in future for candidates to draw unfair benefit from such similar incidents.
