NEET 2024 Controversy: CBI Interrogates Jharkhand School Principal and Staff
A 12-member CBI team probing into the NEET 2024 paper leak and other allegations have interrogated a school principal and other staff members in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand for hours. However, the principal and few other members were released after several hours of questioning. Know details here.
In the latest development to the NEET 2024 controversy being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), principals and staff members of Oasis School, Hazaribagh were interrogated by a 12-member CBI team.
The CBI team reached Hazaribagh, Jharkhand on Tuesday evening and visited the school on Wednesday. Some members also went to the State Bank of India (SBI) main district branch as the bank manager was the custodian of NEET 2024 question papers.
According to a PTI report, the CBI team interrogated Dr Ehsanul Haque, Principal, Oasis School for hours. He, along with several other staff members were taken to a guest house in Charhi, Hazaribagh for questioning purposes, which continued till late evening. However, the principal and two other members were released after the interrogation.
During the interrogation, Dr Haque denied the question paper tampering allegations and called it baseless.
CBI Probe in Patna on NEET 2024 Paper Leak
Meanwhile, two accused in the NEET 2024 paper leak case from Patna, Baldev Kumar, aka Chintu, and Mukesh Kumar were remanded to CBI custody. At present, 18 accused persons are in CBI custody for interrogation. CBI will further interrogate Baldev Kumar and Mukesh Kumar as part of their ongoing investigation.
Earlier this week, a two-member CBI team collected materials leaked to the NEET 2024 paper leak case from the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of the Bihar Police, which was earlier investigating the matter. These materials included burnt question papers, mobile phones of the accused, laptops, post-dated cheques and reference question papers provided by NTA.
Based on this, the CBI team questioned the prime suspect, Sikander Yadavendu and his associates. CBI is also likely to lodge an FIR against tampering and destruction of evidence against some of the accused, who are public servants.
