NEET 2024 retest will be conducted for the 1,563 candidates who were awarded grace marks as compensation for loss of time. Six of the affected candidates had secured 720 marks after the addition of grace marks. The retest is set to alter the entire NEET 2024 merit list.

NEET 2024 retest will take place on Sunday, May 23, 2024, for the 1,563 candidates who were awarded grace marks as compensation for loss of time at their exam centres on May 5, 2024. As per a report by the Press Trust of India, a senior official of NTA was quoted as saying that six out of the affected candidates had secured 720 marks after the addition of grace marks.

Hence, the merit position will change unless these six candidates appear for the NEET 2024 retest and secure full marks. If all these six candidates secure below 720 marks, then the total number of candidates with AIR 1 will decrease to 61 from 67. And if some, but not all of them maintain their score, then also the merit position of all candidates will change.

In a third possibility, if some NEET 2024 retest candidates secure more than their marks obtained on the May 5 exam, their rank will go up. Hence there is a high possibility that the entire NEET 2024 merit list or rank positions will change.

Scoring Criteria for NEET 2024 Retest

NTA has stated that the NEET 2024 re-examination is valid for the following cases only:

  • The Score Cards of all affected (1,563) candidates issued on June 4, 2024, will stand cancelled and thus withdrawn. The affected 1,563 candidates will be informed of their actual Scores (without compensation), through their registered email IDs.
  • A re-examination will be conducted for the affected candidates (1,563).
  • The result of those affected candidates (1563) who do not wish to appear for the reexamination, will be declared based on their actual marks (without compensation) obtained in the exam conducted on May 5, 2024.
  • The marks obtained by the candidates who will appear in the re-test will be considered and their marks based on examination on May 5, 2024 will be discarded.

โ€œThe fresh Score Card after the examination in case the candidate appears for the re-examination will be hosted on the website after the examination,โ€ NTA stated. The NEET 2024 counselling for the 15 per cent All India Quota (AIQ) is likely to begin from July 6, 2024.
