NEET 2024 Retest: 813 Candidates Appear for Exam Conducted in Seven Centres

NEET 2024 retest was conducted on June 23, 2024, by the National Testing Agency (NTA), for 1,563 candidates who were awarded grace marks. According to NTA, a total of 813 candidates appeared for the exam conducted in seven NEET exam centres located in six cities across five states and Union Territories.
As per the NEET 2024 re-examination statistics, 52 per cent of attendance has been marked. Incidentally, there was zero turnout in the exam centre of Chandigarh. Two candidates were allotted the centre but both of them remained absent. On the other hand, there was 100 per cent attendance at the Gujarat centre, where there was only one candidate slated to take the test.

The exam centre at Meghalaya had the highest number of candidates and turnout. Out of 1,563, 750 candidates, accounting to 48 per cent, remained absent.
According to candidates appearing for the NEET 2024 re-exam, the management at the exam centres was better than last time. While some found the question paper to be on the easier side, others marked it to be tougher than the original test.
The result of the NEET 2024 retest will be declared on June 30, 2024. NTA will release a revised scorecard for all 1,563 candidates irrespective of their appearance in the NEET re-exam 2024. The scorecard will consist of the scores obtained in the retest, and for those who did not appear, their original scores, devoid of grace marks will be issued. In either case, the previous testβs scorecard issued on June 4, 2024, will be cancelled.

In the latest turn of events, the Education Ministry has tasked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) with a comprehensive investigation into the alleged irregularities in the NEET UG 2024 examination, held on 5th May 2024. Reports of cheating, impersonation, and malpractices have prompted this action.
At the same time, Subodh Kumar Singh, Director General of the National Testing Agency (NTA), has been placed on compulsory wait in the Department of Personnel & Training. To address the immediate vacancy, Pradeep Singh Kharola, IAS, Chairman and Managing Director of India Trade Promotion Organization, has been assigned the additional charge of Director General, National Testing Agency.
