NEET PG 2023: United Doctors Front Assn. writes to Mansukh Mandaviya to postpone exam by 2-3 months

The medical students have been demanding to postpone the NEET PG 2023 exam, scheduled on March 5, 2023, by 6-8 weeks on the social media platform. Now, the United Doctors Front Association has written to the Union Health Minister Mansukh Manadaviya and urged him to postpone the examination by 2 to 3 months. The association also requested a revisit to the revised internship cut-off date as many interns still remain ineligible.

The letter stated that the medical students are in a state of turmoil and are unable to concentrate on preparations due to ongoing issues related to NEET PG 2023.

"As per NBEMS revised internship eligibility criteria for NEET P2023, internship completion date i.e. June 30, 2023, is not justifying criteria for ongoing internship batch. Around 10,000 interns from many states are still inelligible for NEET PG 2023 after revision," reads the letter.

Another reason for this demand is recently the NEET PG 2022 special stray vacancy round counselling was conducted on January 10, 2023. The NEET PG aspirants were busy attending this round and got less time to prepare for the NEET PG 2023 exam.

The letter also highlighted that recently, on similar grounds for NEET MDS 2023, NBEMS took a decision and rescheduled the exam requested by DCI. In this case, the exam got rescheduled to March 1, due to a clash with ongoing NEET MDS 2022 counselling.

The letter to the health minister has cited many such incidents, where the exam date was postponed due to similar reasons. The association urged the minister to look into it on an urgent basis and postpone the NEET PG 2023 exam and also revisit the internship eligibility criteria.
