NBE's decision to withhold NEET PG marks and issue only percentile scores and ranking has created difficulty for the Rajasthan Government as the state prepares a combined merit list incorporating bonus marks for MBBS doctors working in the government sector.  

NEET PG 2024 Latest News

The National Board of Examination (NBE) has opted to withhold marks for the NEET PG examination and issue percentile scores and ranking for the students who appeared for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post-Graduation. The NBE's decision to withhold NEET PG marks and issue only percentile scores and ranking has created difficulty for the Rajasthan Government as the state prepares a combined merit list incorporating bonus marks for MBBS doctors working in the government sector. 

Consequently, the state's inability to create a merit list may result in further delay in the commencement of academic sessions that is already delayed due to the postponement of the exam date, delay in the further counselling process and Supreme Court's hearing. Previously before COVID-19, the NEET PG examination was typically held in the month of January and the session would start in the month of April/ May. 

NEET PG 2024: Delay in Process 

The NEET PG 2024 exam was initially scheduled for March 3, 2024. The examination was postponed to July 7 without any fated reason. Further, the examination was rescheduled to June 23, 2024 by NBE. Later, a night before the exam day, the examination was once again postponed due to the retainment of the integrity of the examination. Finally, the examination was conducted on August 11, 2024, in two shifts and the result based on percentile rank was announced on August 23, 2024. Later on August 30, NBE announced NEET PG rank lit 2024 including the number of correct and incorrect answers without disclosure of the raw scores. 

Now, the Rajasthan government allots additional marks to MBBS doctors who work in government hospitals in state-run medical colleges. Students who have completed one year of rural service in a government hospital get a 10% bonus on NEET PG marks while 20% bonus marks are provided to students who complete two years of service. Consequently, the health department has released a list of 3,509 MBBS students with rural service along with the duration of service. However, a merit list has not been released, as reported by TOI. 

NEET PG 2024 Counselling Delayed 

The NEET PG counselling registration 2024 is underway. However, there is a delay in the admission process as the NEET PG counselling schedule 2024 is yet to be announced by the authorities. Students are anxious about the commencement of the counselling process as the academic session has been already delayed.  This puts a mental and financial burden on NEET PG aspirants and their families as well. Students are demanding the announcement of NEET PG counselling dates in 2024 at the earliest to speed up the admission process.

Q:   Has NBE released NEET PG 2024 merit list for 50% All India Quota?

A:

Yes. NBE released NEET PG 2024 merit list for 50% All India Quota on September 5, 2024. The merit list was uploaded online and for candidates to download it. Candidates shortlisted in the merit list are eligible to participate in NEET PG counselling. NEET PG 2024 counselling is underprocess. Round-2 has already been completed. Registration for round-3 began on December 26, 2024. MCC will declare round-3 seat allotment result on January 4, 2025.

Q:   Which are the institutes that do not accept NEET PG scores for admission?

A:
15 AIIMS including AIIMS New Delhi, PGIMER Chandigarh, JIPMER, Puducherry, NIMHANS Bengaluru, SGPGI Lucknow, and Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Trivandrum do not accept NEET PG scores. A separate exam is conducted for admission at these institutes, i.e INI CET. The exam is conducted twice in a year in computer-based mode.

Q:   How many seats are available in NEET PG?

NEET PG exam is conducted for admission to 26,168 Doctor of Medicine (MD), 13,649 Master of Surgery (MS) and 922 PG Diploma in 6,102 government, private, deemed/central universities. Candidates have to appear in the exam and qualify it with the minimum cut off marks as per the category. Thereafter, he/she will have to participate in the counselling process for seat allocation. Candidates have to register on the official website and declare choice for college and course for NEET PG counselling process. Seats are allotted based on choice declared, NEET PG rank, available seats, reservation fcator etc.
