FORDA has pointed out that due to the delay in starting the academic year for the 2021 batch of postgraduate medical students, many doctors will complete their PG medical courses after the official NEET SS 2024 cut-off date.
The Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) has requested the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to extend the NEET SS 2024 cut-off date by 15 days. The association has written a formal letter to the board requesting an extension of the NEET SS 2024 cutoff date from April 30, 2025.
While the NBE has set the cut-off date for eligibility to appear in the NEET SS 2024 exam as April 30, 2025, FORDA has requested an extension mentioning that due to delays in batch of 2021 postgraduate medical batch, many doctors will finish their PG courses after the official cut-off date.
"The delay in their academic journey should not prevent them from appearing for the NEET SS 2024 exam. A modest extension of the cut-off date by 15 days would provide these affected doctors, whose tenure extends beyond 30-04-2025, a fair opportunity to appear for the exam without their academic progression being unduly hindered. Furthermore, this approach would be focused on inclusivity without hampering the overall timeline of the exam and counselling process," The notification mentioned.
The association also stated that extending the cut-off date would ease the challenges faced by these candidates, allowing them to showcase their dedication and hard work without being penalized for aspects beyond their control.
NBEMS has announced the NEET SS 2024 exam dates as March 29 and 30, 2025. Along with the examination dates, the authorities have notified that the cut-off date for qualifying MD/ MS/ DNB towards eligibility for appearing in NEET-SS 2024 would be April 30, 2025.

No, revision of the NEET SS cut off or qualifying percentile will not affect the rank obtained by the candidate in any way. However, in case the NEET SS cutoff is lowered, and more candidates qualify for the exam, then all those candidates will be eligible to participate for the NEET SS counselling process. Last year, additional rounds of NEET SS counselling were conducted since the cutoff was reduced later, to give equal scopes to the newly qualified candidates of the exam. However, their merit positions or the All India Ranks did not change.
